After being named to succeed Rishi Sunak as finance minister of Britain, Nadhim Zahawi outlined his economic aims in a series of early-morning interviews on Wednesday.

Here are the main points:

DUE TO HIS PRIORITIES

"I must revive and expand the economy. Because of (Russian President Vladimir) Putin's unlawful invasion of Ukraine, we have just gotten out of what would be considered a global war, and war is raging in Europe "He spoke to Sky News.

"Getting inflation under control and practicing budgetary responsibility are crucial."

The first thing we must do, whether it be with public sector pay or anything else, is to ensure that inflation is not further fueled.

"Inflation is a worldwide problem that we are now confronting."

TAX CUTTING:

When questioned about an anticipated rise in the company tax rate, he responded as follows: "Nothing is off the table, and I will consider all options. Boards and corporations analyze corporate tax rates before making long-term investments "To Times Radio, he said.

"The prime minister is concerned about our financial restraint. We both have that concentration, "To the BBC, he stated.

"Of course, I'll be considering further ways to ensure that the economy stays vibrant and competitive with both our neighbors in Europe and the rest of the globe. There are no off-limits topics."

DEBT AND INFLATION:

"We will be paying off 83 billion in debt this year. It was at 20 billion last year. Consequently, debt servicing increased by four times."

"Inflation is really, very detrimental if allowed to go out of hand, particularly for the most underprivileged families in the community that we're trying to serve," he said on LBC Radio.
